STATUS OF STEM CELL TREATMENTS IN
UNITED STATES
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
At StemTech Labs, we are constantly striving to
improve our product, its effectiveness, and the patient’s
experience. Increasing the number
of cells that we provide in each dose is one way that we have improved
our produce. Originally, based on
other researcher’s experience, we had promised to provide at least 1.8
Million stem cells per dose (though we usually provided more than 10 million
stem cells). Newer research
suggests that more cells are better for most adult treatments, and we are
pleased that our laboratory procedures have allowed us to harvest a
greater number of stem cells per donated cord. So, we now guarantee at least 10 million
stem cells per dose, with at least 1 million pluripotent mesencymal
cells, for no additional price.
Please see below for our new price list, including discount prices for a series of
treatments.
We have also made some improvement at reducing or
eliminating a common side effect from stem cell treatment. White blood cells are responsible for
many of the effects of fever. They
release chemicals, called “cytokines,” that cause aches, increased
temperature, chills, etc. We may
assume that such effects are the result of an infection, but actually,
they are the result of the release of cytokines into the blood. Cytokine release may be caused by
infection, or other reasons.
Cytokines are also released by dead white blood cells,
and they are released by live white blood cells even under storage at
liquid nitrogen temperatures.
Since StemTech Labs umbilical cord blood stem cells are stored along
with some white blood cells from the umbilical cord blood, each dose of
stem cells has some cytokines in it, which can cause an uncomfortable
reaction. We have previously
reduced the amounts of cytokines, which a patient receives along with a
stem cell transfusion by repeatedly washing the storage fluid from the
cells. We have also found that by
reducing the number of dead white blood cells in each dose of frozen
cells, we can also reduce the side effects of the treatment. We have made great improvements in our
ratio of live to dead cells, so we can deliver more live stem cells
without increasing your chance of having a fever-like reaction. Please remember, when we tell you how
many stem cells you will be receiving, this is the counted number of LIVE
stem cells in your individual dose.
ONE DOSE VS. A SERIES
We have had almost 100% of our stem cell patients (or
their families) report improvement following a stem cell treatment. There are a few patients whose families
report that they are improved, but the patients themselves report no
change. Still, most of our
patients are not satisfied that their condition is completely resolved,
and most desire additional treatments.
Similarly, other stem cell practitioners have found that one dose
of stem cells, no matter what the number of stem cells, is not sufficient
for many patients. They have
discovered that if there are acute (current or recent) medical problems
present, like an infection, an injury or an inflammation, that the stem
cells are attracted to these areas first.
That leaves only a few cells available to treat the chronic,
on-going problems. By giving a
series of treatments, the acute problems are addressed by the stem cells
on the first treatment, less acute ones on a second treatment, and
chronic ones on the third treatment.
It may be ideal to wait one or two days between treatments, for
the stem cells to find and begin work on the more acute problems, so that
subsequent treatments are no longer attracted to these areas. We offer a series of treatments in
Quito, Ecuador for much less than most patients have been paying in the
US for just one treatment, including travel and hotel expenses. The cost of the cells is not included
in these prices, but we do have new discount prices
for a series.
For severe chronic problems, more than one series of
treatments, separated by several months, may be recommended. In Europe, stem cells are used for
anti-aging purposes, and after an initial series, are administered once
or twice a year. A useful protocol
would be: 3 treatments in 2 weeks, then once a month for another three,
and then once every six months.
See our new prices for a series of
treatments.
NEW DISCOUNT PRICING
In order to make it easier for you to order a series
of treatments, and thus increase your chance of having the result that
you desire, we have come up with discount treatments for a series of
treatments. Please be aware that
each dose in the series contains the same guaranteed 10 Million live
blood stem cells and 1 Million live mesenchymal stem cells. Some practitioners have asked us to
split the doses into three parts, and we may be able to provide this on a
special-order basis.
For a single dose, with our new higher guaranteed live
cell count, the price remains $5,000 US.
For a series of three doses of at least 11 Million cells each, the
price is $7,500, or a 50% reduction in cost. For a series of 5 treatments, the price
is $12,000. This is a discount of
52%. A 10 treatment series, such
as might be used for an anti-aging program, now costs only $22,500 US, or
$2250 per treatment, for a savings of 55% over the cost of a single
treatment. Please note that these
prices do not include shipping.

NEW
CLINIC IN QUITO
We are proud to welcome Dr. Hernan Sotomayor, a
trained surgeon now practicing alternative medicine, as our newest
provider of stem cells. Dr.
Sotomayor (yes, that is the same name as the new justice of the supreme court)
has just purchased a clinic in Quito, directly across the street from the
Ministry of Culture and an easy walk to Plaza Foch, the heart of Quito’s
night life, and is excited about providing stem cell treatments
there. The clinic is also an easy
2 block walk from the Swiss Hotel, where we will be housing our clients,
2 blocks from the Marriott, and about 4 blocks from the Holiday
Inn-Quito. The clinic has a
consultation room, laboratory, several treatment rooms, and patient rooms
for resting after a treatment.
Dr.
Sotomayor will be combining his skills in nutritional medicine and
homeopathy with stem cell therapy, to increase the readiness of your body
to receive the stem cells, and allow the stem cells to produce the result
that you are looking for. To
schedule a treatment, or a series of treatments with Dr. Sotomayor,
please order it here.
STATUS OF STEM CELL TREATMENTS IN UNITED STATES
The Food and Drug Administration continues to attempt
to restrict the therapeutic use of natural, non-genetically modified stem
cells in the United States.
Although Congress provided an exemption for the regulation of
unmodified stem cells, the FDA has said that it would ignore that
exemption, and treat umbilical cord stem cells as a drug. We believe that this is illegal, but it
makes physicians nervous about supplying stem cells from us.
We have written to the FDA to ask for them to give a lawful reason
why they have chosen to ignore the law and require unmodified stem cells
to be treated as a drug or medical device, but they have twice refused to
answer the letters that we sent to them by US Registered Mail. This is undoubtedly because there is no
legal reason for their decision.
Of course, that has never stopped them in the past—see this
article about Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski: http://www.dwij.org/pathfinders/dan_haley/dan_2.html
StemTech Labs continues to negotiate with an
independent Institutional Review Board to oversee a study of stem cell
therapy in the United States. Many
of the physicians who have been administering stem cells feel that being
a part of such a study would help to protect them against illegal
activities from the FDA.
Some physicians have sought to bypass the FDA
restriction on medial innovation by trying bone marrow stem cell
transplants from a patient’s own body.
Unfortunately, the FDA forbids the culturing of these stem cells without
them being regulated, investigated and marketed as a drug or medical
device. There are thus not enough bone marrow stem cells in most cases to
be useful for a medical condition.
Since the FDA has no jurisdiction over the practice of
an individual physician, and since the FDA has no jurisdiction over
treatments which a physician might prepare for use in his or her own
practice, and since the FDA has no jurisdiction over any medical
treatment not involved in interstate commerce, StemTech Labs has decided
on a new approach to increase the availability of stem cell therapy in
the United States.
We are looking for a number of physicians, or
entrepreneurs who will work with a licensed physician, who would like to
have their own stem cell laboratory in the United States, or
elsewhere. StemTech Labs will
build out the laboratory, provide the equipment, supplies, protocols, and
training, and will work with physicians to provide patients within
their own state. Please contact us if you would like to explore this option.
